Wasted time?

Was my studies wasted time? I hope not. I really hope. Because I can not find a job. One month after graduation from university and I'm desperately unemployed. I know the risks of living in almost completely industrial area. When you are no engineer its really hard. I was ready to take any good job. Even assistant or receptionist. But everywhere ( Read more... )

Oh poor Ava! This has got to be the worst time in years to graduate. My sister had exactly the same problem - she spent 4 months looking for a job and she would've taken anything. Finally she's got one but it's temporary - they won't need her after January ( ... )

Thank you, Ali! So its obviously not an issue of my country only. I know that recession came in the worst time possible! People get fired and only experienced get the available jobs. I so feel for your sister! :(
I've been checking for months though... even before graduation. And the situation hasn't really changed since. No jobs.
Currently I'm even considering to apply fora specific job over EURES. In UK. I know its the same problem everywhere, but it does look like a chance to get a work experience in branch. Though its badly payed, they offer accomodation and its in area of social work. I still need to gather more info on that. I'm quite sure its offered only because no one in UK would do that... But whatever...

Frustrating! Does your school offer internships?

I found my little job through a temporary staffing agency. Sometimes it's a great stepping-stone to finding a direct position- and meanwhile it's a good way to network.

I wish you all the luck! *waves fairy wand*

Nope, no internships. That's why we are all so frustrated. Even the compulsory professional practice we had to find ourselves alone. :( They don't give a damn what's with us after grad!

I'm registered by number of agencies but didn't get a single offer yet. :(
*points at her message for Ali* Considering another options...

Thanks, Dweediepotter ;))

AW ! My poor Ava !!!
That's terrible to read that it's the same problem everywhere for young people who just get out from Uni !!! :(
Terrible to see how "schools" don't do their job to prepare youth for work-world...

That's true it's always the first job wich is hard to find, because of this "famous" lack of experience... but you're right ! You're supposed not to have any experience, and you just have to begin somewhere...
I wish you to find the boss who will trust you !!! Truly I do !

Is there any help from your government to help young people like you who search jobs ?
When I was your age, there are some short contracts (20 hours per weeks for 1 year, and maybe 2 if you were a good employee) with a miserable pay, but that was a good beginning, and I can tell you that I learned some interesting stuff !!!

I really hope you'll find a job the sooner possible Ava !!!!
Keep the pressure !!!!
*HUGS & ♥*

Oh that's so annoying...especially when you've worked so hard and now there's nothing to go to. I hate when they say to graduating students that they should have experience! Yeah right~! Experience!...first they need to give a chance to get some!
