So uncool to say that I'm going to miss high school; even uncooler to write an entire entry devoted to it. Of course I don't want to "reach my peak" in the throes of my adolescence, but if the rest of my life is going to be better than the last four years, I have a bright future. Duh, it wasn't perfect. Duh, I complained nearly every day (browse ( Read more... )

Responding to two points, in reverse order in which you said them:

1) I didn't drink in highschool either, and I dont regret it. When you get to college, it is very different, but it's still a choice you can make or decide against. The most important thing with drinking in college is that you dont over compensate! Too many kids dont drink in highschool, get to college, and go CRAZY and then they fail out and wonder why. Then there are those people who make smart decisions and have a good time, either way.

2) It seems really hard to walk away from Needham, but all of a sudden, you dont realize that you dont really miss it as much as you thought you would. It's impossible to explain other then after a few months at college, you come back for nostalgia and to catch up with people, but it's not something that you really miss.

College is awesome. Sometimes it takes a few months to settle in, but no matter what school you go to, you really decide what kind of experience you're going to have.

The idea of you not giving the band tuning note really really freaks me out as well. Not kidding.

I am going to miss band so much. We had that class every year for four years. I really don't want to leave it...

Clearly I'm going to pull out my clarinet each day and play a C while staring at a picture of the flute section, just to recapture that extinct experience :(

hii nicole, sammy here. let's ignore the fact that i somehow have your lj and read it semi-religiously...

1. my mom is a freelance writer and she doesn't check the coin slots of payphones.
2. i WISH you were speaking at graduation instead of alex nectow. god. it makes me angry just thinking about it. and him.
3. okay, i think that's it, i'll see you in math.

Hey Nicole, this is Tom Whitlock, the dorky kid from Gov (as well as math and English for a short time, I regret my decision to switch into Koup's class)! I found you through Kim's LJ, I was surprised tonight to actually find a few people from NHS here, not many people have one.

I don't think it's too odd to miss high school, although I think it takes longer to sink in for some people. I never realized how much I'd miss it until a few weeks ago.

My LJ is undergoing some layout changes, and I know it looks awful, but I'm also very lazy at this point so I'm not fixing it all tonight.

I hope you're having a great summer! And by the way, your karaoke at the party was easily one of the best things I've ever seen!

Hello, Tom! It's nice to find other NHS-ers on livejournal, and you are NOT the "dorky kid from Gov," because I claim that title. Congratulations on Pitzer (clearly, I read basically your entire LJ), and good to hear from you! And thank you on the karaoke kompliment, although yours was pretty kickass :)
