I was thinking lately that HBP- the 6th book in the series- is hardly likely going to be your 'conveniental' HP book. On the contrary, I believe that the HBP will be the most controversial HBP book to date, bar none

I dunno. Maybe it's just me, but the "fairytale bubble" burst when I actually picked up the book. (Hadn't seen the movies yet either.) One of the interesting things about these books, especially from a sociological perspective, is that the muggle world and magical world are.......well... exactly alike. It's not a fairytale, but instead, it's a study of "Okay, so what would the life of an average Joe be like while living in some super secret society

I agree. I think a lot of people will feel betrayed by it - as much, if not more so, than OotP. The books gained such a huge following with the first four books, which - while having their share of darkness - were generally light in tone (until the end of GoF, obviously).
I firmly think that HBP is going to be where the good side hits rock bottom, though, and I have long thought that a huge part of that could revolve around Dumbledore's death. However, I also believe that JKR will leave us with an inkling of hope - a reason to believe that book 7 is where the knife will be pulled out, not driven further in. If that makes sense. :P
Makes perfect sense to me actually. This series isn't a tragedy, but that doesn't mean they won't have to go through hell to reach that light at the end of the tunnel.
Poly will appreciate this, sounds like Empire Strikes Back to me, and yes, that's been the best one so far. The darkness is coming, war does that, I just hope the Trio realize now more than ever, they are only as strong as they are united and as weak a they are divided...
Well, you're not the first to say it. I remember last time the "cliffhanger" theory came up, and everybody was suspecting Ron, I was all..."Gee, you guys are thinking Han and Leia, aren't you?" ROTFL!

Yes, it makes sense. I think this book will have a rather dark ending, with a feeling of some hopelessness on the side of the Order and Harry. To me, the lack of spoilers and even the book summary is very foreboding. JKR has mentioned in the past that she will stick to her original plan and storylines, even if she loses readers after book six. She specifically mentions book six...why? I think there will be a big death in this book or maybe even a cliffhanger.
I'm thinking the big Death might be Hermione's or Molly's, I hope niether but both have potential to be devastating to Harry and Ron, and to the Fandom too...
My fear is that JKR is going to do another 'Sirius'; namely she's going to kill a character that we *really* don't want to die, and that she's going to do it VERY unexpectedly. In fact, I don't just fear that, I fear her doing several.
I think a lot of people are going to seriously rethink labelling HP as 'a book for kiddies' after HBP, although I'm certain that the light-hearted humour that has won HP a place in our hearts will still be there.
My problem was I never even saw Sirius as that major a character. I remember going through Order of the Phoenix, and when Sirius's death came up, I was all...."THAT'S IT?" Dude, I was more upset about Qui-Gon Jin's death in Star Wars. :P I dunno. I guess I couldn't feel that terrible about it since, all things considered, he wasn't really around for Harry much in his life. He was kind of like a false hope in a way
