Well...it's not just Americans if it makes you feel any better. I do cringe a bit when you see them so publicly flaunt their ignorance, though, and I think Americans do that the best.

Yes, I should've said 'why must a greater percentage of Americans...' http://www.nytimes.com/imagepages/2006/08/14/science/sciencespecial2/20050815_EVO_GRAPHIC.html I fear for the state of science education in this country. I am considering going overseas or to Canada for my graduate work.
