I love you dad.

I guess nights like these are why I created a journal.  I am usually a pretty private person (like someone i care about pointed out to me tonight) but as anyone close to me knows.  I have not been myself for almost a year now.

My dad lost his battle to lung cancer tonight at 8:18 pm. He was diagnosed September 9th 2006.  I found out after going to ( Read more... )

My dear, dear friend. Your father live on in you Mikey. Your smile, your sense of humour, your work ethic and above all your love for life. He has passed on to his next journey, but he is only as far away as where ever you are because he will live forever within you.

You've handled this time with your Dad admirably. I am so proud to call you my friend, Mikey. Please know that while we are thousands of miles away, I am standing right there besides you with a hug only arms length away.

You and I now have one more thing in common - besides that lovely Irish drinking ability ;-)

Mikey....Your Dad will always be very proud of you, and watching over you with great pride in the extraordinary person that you are, and the accomplishments you will achieve.

Your family honored your Dad this past weekend spending those last moments together and remembering the things that made him special. That was very moving, thank you for sharing.

A tattoo is a great way to remember your Dad. The icon is a shamrock tattoo I clipped a while ago. Irish with a twist, just the way it was meant to be.

Mikey - found out about this through Mason's journal. I'm so sorry bud - I lost my dad to cancer too (adult leukemia) and it really, really sucks.

Please accept a rain check for a hug, until I can deliver one in person.

The tattoo sounds like a great idea. I got one when my mom passed on. I like to consider it my last birthday present from her. She would have loved it.

May the wonderful memories you have of your father be with you always. And when you are sad and missing him, may those memories fill your heart and bring a smile to your face.
