I think you could go for it. If you don't get in- life goes on. (I know you probably won't feel the same, buut... that's just me.) If you do- you can always decide that you don't like it and change your major. You're never going know if it's as bad as you think it will be if you never atleast try.
I was at Towson today and I asked the director of the theatre department how big the technical theatre department was and he said "As big as you make it." I feel like this pertains to the situation.
I'm probably the most naive person for saying this, but I'd rather be naive than a pessimist.
In all reality, rejection is a huge part of performing ANYTHING. And if you don't get in it doesn't mean you suck. It just means you may not have been right for the part, or right for the school. A huge part of performing is just putting yourself out there. Don't worry about what the outcome is, because if you do what you love you'll find the perfect place for you.
