A reminder of Christian teaching

Mainly for me, although anyone else who respects the Bible might find this a good reminder as well.

On a completely different note, it never fails to surprise/delight me that your home town (mostly hard-core Christian, iirc?) reveled in Halloween as much as they did. The fundies at home treated it like "every time you dress up or go trick-or-treating God kills a kitten". Which always seemed really odd, because Halloween is almost entirely secularized by now and you have to work to make it pagan. So I think it's awesome that it's possible to be fundamentalist and really enjoy the pageantry and opportunity to play dress-up. :-)

The interesting irony in that position is that Christmas and Easter have the same pagan roots that Halloween does. And yet these same people who condemn Halloween embrace those other two as religious holidays -- something I will point out my family does not do. We celebrate all these days for what they are: American traditions that we're proud to be a part of. But for us they're quite secular. The only days of special significant in my religion are Sundays and any days I choose (as the scripture above clearly shows).
