Fandom: Gundam Wing
Pairing: Heero/Duo
Prompt: Help
Duo jumped as a particularly loud clap of thunder rumbled through the heavens. The lights of his New York City apartment flickered slightly with the lightning that followed. Shaking his head he stood and went into the small kitchen to fix a cup of tea. Rain lashed the windows making him shiver.
Only a couple more months and his job here on Earth would be over. After that he could return to space and pick up on his search for Heero again. Duo hadn’t seen his fellow pilot in nearly three years and hadn’t heard from him in two. The feeling that something was wrong had settled in his gut about a year ago and that is when he had started his search.
Hate to tell you Maxwell but if Heero doesn’t want to be found you won’t find him.
Duo knew Trowa had been right but he was stubborn and damnit, he was going to find Heero.
A shrill buzz sounded through his apartment making Duo jump again. He frowned. He wasn’t expecting anyone. Maybe it was just some kids pulling a prank, that wasn’t uncommon. But then the buzz sounded again. Duo moved over to the intercom, pressing the ‘speak’ button. “Who is it?”
“Let me in Duo.”
Duo blinked at the intercom. It couldn’t be… “H-Heero?”
“Hn.”
Unable to press the button fast enough Duo unlocked all twenty locks on his door and rushed out to meet the elevator. He could hear the car moving and by the time he stopped he was nearly bouncing on his toes. The door finally slid open and Duo barely stopped himself from pulling Heero into a bear hug. The only thing that stopped him was the small, sleeping child Heero held in his arms.
Duo blinked in surprise. Heero held up a finger to his lips as he stepped out of the elevator. Duo nodded numbly and led Heero to his apartment. Duo watched as Heero went to his bedroom and placed the child on the bed, buffering her on either side with the pillows. Heero closed the bedroom door and met Duo in the kitchen.
“Where… who… how…?” Duo questioned shaking his head.
“I can’t stay,” Heero said. “Duo, I need you to look after Natalie.”
Duo’s mouth hung open. “Natalie?”
“The little girl. Her name is Natalie and she’s almost two. If I could explain I would but that would only put you both in danger.”
“But Heero-!”
“She’s important Duo. Trust me on that.” Heero moved toward the door.
“Heero!” Duo saw the other pause, his hand on the doorknob. “Why me?”
“I know I can count on you.”
“Heero…”
Turning faster than Duo could see Heero pushed him up against the wall, his lips against Duo’s. Blue eyes were wide for a second but then closed, giving in and even returning the kiss. This was what he had wanted for the past two years… And then, as quickly as it had happened it was over.
“Take care of her Duo,” Heero stated. He opened the door and was gone. Duo stood staring at the door in confusion. Finally he kicked the door with a frown.
“You’d better come back Yuy… I’ve got some damn questions that need answering.”
