It occurs to me as I type this that perhaps I should be typing out the plethora of practicals and exam material I have waiting for me. That and my check coming off late has really begun to hurt the academic schedule. I shouldnt have put off buying books for so long ( Read more... )

Oh, there's no trend to them, per se.Those vary from convo to convo.
This was just a topic I felt I'd like to digress on.

wow. I don't think I could've organized that better... jorenthecole April 10 2004, 13:21:25 UTC
I'm just messing, with you, though.
You know that, right?

Anyway, you seemed to be confusing physical traits, such as arsenic, with intangilbe traits, such as a person's personality.

You also confused religion with different parts of the world.

I'm sure there are people here in the U.S. who don't eat pork either...or arsenic for that matter ( ;) ).

Anyway, you Did seem like you were trying to grasp some obvious point about humanity, but your mind was muddled with all the different traits the world, and people, have that you lost sight of it at the end, IMO.

Again, I'm just really here for clarification, so no one else, that you Don't know and Can't talk to personally, finds your mistakes and makes fun of you.

Oh, well.
Ta-ta.

You've missed the heart of the matter, but you may have punctured an alveoulus avariciousangel April 10 2004, 15:01:27 UTC
*shakes head*
I'm not using *traits* here per se. Traits are either subtle or apparent variations of a derived physical or mental chracteristic.
I'm talking about *beliefs* here. My belief is that swallowing a copious amount of arsenic would otherwise be detrimental to my health, just like it is my belief that eating pork is a bad thing.
Of course, they're alot of people in the states that would agree with me, for entirely different reasons, as there are pople who would disagree.....While I'm somewhat certain, I cant say for sure that there are not any people who would say arsenic is good for one, here, or around the world, because they believe it so.

It's everyones personal beliefs that set them apart, that was the point you missed.

right.... jorenthecole April 11 2004, 13:46:36 UTC
Tell me you didn't think "traits" when you read this:
"...I'm pretty sure that a fair number of people, irrespective of where I'd pick them from, would agree on the fact that Arsenic is poisonous..."

no where did you mention "beliefs", or I would've left you alone.
Actually, you didn't mention Anything, so I thought what I might/thought.

Again:

"...different parts of the world would disagree on say.....Eating pork to be a good thing..."

Religion and beliefs, but, I guess you Are being schizophrenic like me and forgetting IMPORTANT WORDS such as "beliefs" or phrases such as "beliefs like".

So, before you yell at me for not understanding, don't become a historian, k?

We need people that Explain things (throughly), not omit them and expect everyone to jump into your/their head (to get it right).

To quote you:

You seem unusually perturbed. avariciousangel April 11 2004, 14:01:22 UTC
I'm not "yelling at you" at all, I'm merely explaining a point.
Well, the fact that you thought what you thought without clarifying what I meant is your fault, not mine, now innit?
P.S: Gullivers travels (If that was what you were referring to) Has nothing to do with History. As does anything else in this post.
