Summary: Aang and Zuko discuss the final battle.
Notes: I was getting annoyed with the lack of dialogue in my fics lately. This should remedy that.:P
“Why are you doing this?”
“You don’t understand, Zuko.”
“I think I would, he’s my own father.”
“And you think he deserves it?”
“Aang, I’ve wasted three years of my life trying to hold onto the hope that he didn’t. Do you understand that?”
“It doesn’t matter.”
“Yes it does! Aang, I want to believe what you do, but I can’t anymore.”
“He’s still a human being.”
“I wish I could agree with you. You know I do. But I’m afraid.”
“Me too. I’m afraid I’ll become…”
“You’ll become what?”
“Like him.”
There’s a long pause. The night air is still.
“A tyrant.”
Zuko is silent.
“I can’t do it.”
“Then please just promise me one thing, Aang.”
“Yes?”
“Just please, don’t make the same mistake I made. You have to put the world first.”
Aang is silent.
