I really love the descriptions of Ursa, which engage the senses and is indicative of Azula's close scrutiny of her. There's quite a bit of pathos in Azula thinking the feelings might come if she acts the part. I also like how Azula's original personality emerges as the moon wanes. Her possessiveness of Katara is ironic given their prior relationship, but makes perfect sense in this context--and is a bit sinister as well now that Mai and Ty Lee are out of Azula's orbit

I'm intrigued that Zuko gave her Roku's crown, which shows a lot of affection and trust. To someone who knows the symbolism of that headpiece, it could even signify that she has part of the Firelord's powers.
I did not even think of that, I figured Mai wore Ursa's old crown while Ursa herself wore something appropriate for a lady mother or whatever her title as the Fire Lord's mom would be, or Mai had a new one made when she married Zuko.
Oh, somehow I saw "headpiece" and immediately thought Roku's crown, silly me. And thanks for the fab art, I finally have an image of Toph to fix in my mind that actually looks like her instead of a bikini model doing cosplay. It'll enable me to read stories that feature her in adult situations without picturing that 12-year-old girl in my head (gah).

In my head, Fire Lady Mai looks a lot like this:
