Maturity is the realization that all our actions affect others around us - and caring about that.

Child-like is seeing the world through innocent eyes and finding the beauty in small things, like clouds or dandelions.

Modern society says that it's always someone else's fault. The Virginia Tech shooter is blamed in video games or the gun makers. A fatal car crash is the fault of the alcohol. There's no such thing as personal accountability anymore.

I think it's important to balance maturity with child-like. The world is more beautiful that way.

Sure. There's nothing wrong with finding beauty in things.

I know plenty of adults who do that. :-) I mean, it helps that a lot of my friends are Scientologists, there... :-)

I'm just talking about people who don't realize that they have a future, mostly. Or people who think that irresponsibility is cool.

Irresponsibility in small doses and within reason is cool. Like eating a half gallon of ice cream. Slacking off and not paying bills or drinking and driving is not cool.

Whether the future is looking good or bad, there IS a future, and we all have some say in our futures. I can't understand how some people think that their future is entirely out of their hands.

Yeah. I agree with you there, about the future. :-)
