Do you like 4th edition as much as say earlier editions like 1st and 3rd? How do the changes in the system affect gameplay in general?

I'm thinking about running a SR game for a few friends, and want to use the better system.

I actually really like it. The system is still pretty similar, but they did a few things to make it less annoying. It's also set about 50 years later with really interesting changes in the world. I don't think I'd actually go back to the other systems. My biggest problem with it is that character creation takes forever when you only have 1 book! Biff_rocko is running our two games, so he may be able to give you an idea of how much easier to run.
