Have an end-of-the-year meme to remember me by. :)
1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Bought a wool suit. Argued a case like it was real. Bought actual running shoes.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I only ever make the one resolution (MOAR SEX!) and it's none of your damn business whether I keep it or not.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Close, no, but one of my law school classmates did in January and one of my facebook friends about a week and change ago.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
If they did, I'm embarrassed to say that I don't remember.
5. What countries did you visit?
None. Hell, I never even made it to Duluth. The only vacation we took was to visit family.
6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
A summer job would be nice. Also, maybe an honest-to-shit A in law school.
7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
Um. Nov. 22, when we had the final for Trial Practice.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I thought I was going to say "a triple-plus in exhibits for my Trial Practice final" but as I still ended up with a B+ in the class, apparently fucking killing the final DEAD didn't mean anything. So not that. /grumble
9. What was your biggest failure?
Ask me after I get the rest of my grades.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
No, thank FSM. I may have had a head cold at one point and the usual randomness, but nothing important.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
Oh, this shit's EASY. The dark-green daniblack maryjanes that I got for about 83% off ($169 originally; marked down to $120, and then 65% off, and then 30% off that) from Neiman Marcus Last Call. Fucking adorable.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Ben's, for not killing me sometimes. JS, for convincing me in January that I should not kill myself even though my first semester grades were not brilliant. And, really, my brother; he's done a remarkable job trying to be a dad to his kid, even if the mom won't let him see Parker very often.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
*sigh* Seriously, sometimes, Obama's.
14. Where did most of your money go?
Uh, I don't have any money. But most of Ben's money went to rent, groceries, and, annoyingly enough, law school books.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My schedule this last semester! OMG it was awesome. I will never be that lucky again.
16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Haha, probably "Teenage Dream" or "California Gurls", both Katy Perry.
Compared to this time last year, you are:
17. Richer or poorer?
About the same.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Cooking, I guess. We spent too much money on food.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
All that fucking work into Trial Practice and I still only popped up with a B+.
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
Oh, hell. I spent from midnight-3am on Xmas morning wrapping presents; slept from 3am-about 8am; opened presents with Ben-Mom-Dad-Andy-Diane-Parker from about 8:30am-10:30am; showered, etc.; went to Aunt #1 on Dad's Side from 11:30ish to about 2:30ish; went to Grandparents Mom's Side from 3 to 4ish; went to Aunt #2 on Dad's side from 4:30 to about 10; went to Andy's to pick up clothing, etc.; went to parents' and fell over dead.
21. What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you in 2010?
I can't even think of anything if it did happen.
22. Did you fall in love in 2010?
Ben and I were mistaken for newlyweds two days ago. Does that count? :-D /bragging
23. How many one-night stands?
Zero.
24. What was your favorite TV program?
I spent probably more time watching NCIS than anything else this year, but I still adore Castle with all my heart.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't think so, no.
26. What was the best book you read?
Constitutional Law, by Sullivan and Gunther. Oh, wait, you meant something that wasn't a textbook. Um. I was quite fond of The Republic of Love by Carol Shields, but I generally like her anyway.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Largeheartedboy.com's Daily Downloads, and Daytrotter--not bands or people, but places to source free and legal music, some of which is even by people I've heard of.
28. What did you want and get?
Uh, my 3rd-semester schedule was a WIN, as well as the black interview suit, and I did not know how desperately I wanted those green shoes until I saw them. And I got them!
29. What did you want and not get?
An A in Trial Practice. Also a second wool suit.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Ben and I went out to dinner (I think it was a Sunday) at Buca di Beppo's; he got me a knife and a knife block, which, YAY. I turned 28.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A fucking A in Trial Practice, man.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
I own two suits, and wore suits two or three days a week. You see the problem.
I can tell you what my personal fashion concept will be in 2011: Things I Can Wear With Green Maryjanes.
34. What kept you sane?
Ben. Also JS. And coffee and beer.
35. Which celebrity / public figure did you fancy the most?
Nathan Fillion?
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
Rape, abortion, domestic violence, teh gay: the same as usual. Seriously: it's disturbing, how many hours a day I spend thinking about these topics.
37. Whom did you miss?
All my non-Minnesota friends; various family members.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
My Con Law professor, who is fucking badass. Also a couple of awesome internet people.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010:
People do not actually automatically hate me. This is surprising.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
J'ai beau t'aimer encore, j'ai beau t'aimer toujours,
J'ai beau n'aimer que toi, j'ai beau t'aimer d'amour.
