Jane had thought she could handle the jungle. She could handle mosquitoes. She could handle monsoons, depressing as they may be. She could handle her research subjects, even if they liked to aim their piercing shrieks in her direction. But she could not handle leopards, apparently. Or at least one leopard. With the most terrifyingly beautiful predatory sneer. About two feet from her face.

Trees were not an option. Leopards loved trees. And there was no way she could outrun it. Her knees knocked together as she wondered why she didn't pack her mace. She took a deep breath and screwed her eyes shut. Suddenly, the world fell away underneath her feet.

She opened her eyes after a few moments and lot of long, blond hair. Yellow blond hair. Maybe it was some sort of jungle angel. She looked again: a muscular, hypermasculine jungle angel. A jungle god maybe? She barely has any time to think about it as her stomach flip-flops about five times when he jumps from vine to vine. She keeps expecting to tumble down and smack the ( ... )

They end up in a ramshackle old tree house. He placed her in the corner with the sturdiest-looking floorboards and then patted her on the head and smiled. He had a ridiculously nice smile for a wild man. And his blue eyes were kind of arresting. Just a little bit ( ... )
