Gen, or Any/Loki, Loki treats Clint like a diary anonymous May 25 2012, 02:12:49 UTC
When Loki took control of Clint and Erik, he was only looking for a talented scientist and a talented guard. He did not expect Clint Barton to also be a talented listener.

As they work together, Loki takes to thinking out loud, and since he doesn't expect to ever lose control of Barton, he doesn't think twice about how much of himself he's sharing. Clint learns all about Loki's issues with his family, how the Chitauri found him, and how little control Loki actually has over the whole invasion of Earth. He also learns how much Loki still loves his brother and why Loki thinks a clean break between the two of them is necessary.

+10 if Clint still feels an emotional connection to Loki after the mind control is broken

+50 if Clint pulls Thor aside and tries to encourage their reconciliation

+100 if Clint gets a chance to talk to Loki one-on-one before he's taken back to Asgard

pfffft i just had this sudden mental image of Loki being all teenage and angsty
"dear diary, dad is SUCH a douchebag, like, seriously, he doesn't undestand. and, like, don't even get me STARTED on Thor, I just CAN'T with that guy. omfg."

um anyway, i actually like this prompt

Clint knows people think he was on autopilot after Loki's staff pulls him under. He isn't. Not really. He just can't say no. It's like the blueness fills him up and he has a little Loki action-figure sitting in the corner of his mind sitting cross-legged and leering at him, willing him forward. But Clint can still think. And listen ( ... )

Loki comes back. Loki keeps coming back whenever he has a free moments in between checking things off his evil overlord list (probably filled with stuff like "Make all of Mount Rushmore look like me" and "turn that Mexican crater into a caricature of my dad") or whatever he does when he isn't ordering Clint and the other minions around. He pours out his "woes" and swears Clint to secrecy. Apparently, most of his issues go back to being adopted and not told about it until recently, which would make Clint roll his eyes if it weren't for the mini-Loki glaring in his head, preventing any rebellious moves. He feels a little bad for Loki when he starts talking about his plans---the plans that aren't really his anymore---and his mysterious anonymous bosses. Those are the moments when his skin looks palest, his hair greasiest, his armor shabbiest, and he really appears sort of lost ( ... )

Loki manages to cram a few more confessionals into the time they have left before Natasha kicks the blue out of Clint. He knows about Loki really looks like and at least half of his childhood exploits (including one particularly embarassing incident involving him, Thor, pudding, and a glass-and-gold vase) and way too many things he probably shouldn't know about. Clint can't like the guy, but he can at least...appreciate him. Loki's not just Evil Overlord Wannabe #426; he's a son, a brother, a lonely idiot who's made bad choices. And Clint has to respect someone who can catch one of his arrows.

Clint tries to forget. He wants to forget. But his dreams fill up with Frost Giants and pudding and jealous little boys in capes fighting over a crown. Even though the blueness is gone, something pushes him forward, whispers that he needs to find Thor.

He finally does find the thunder god and he grabs Thor's arm roughly.

"What do you need, Barton?" Thor's been suspicious of him, and Clint doesn't blame him. He's surprised anyone ( ... )

OP anon is FILLED WITH GLEE!!!!!!

I didn't expect this to be filled so quickly! And it's so good! And I like how Clint is kind of waffling on how he feels about everything. And I love the inner-Loki driving possessed!Clint along.

Reeeaaaally wanna know what horribly embarrassing trick involved a vase and pudding! lmao

And that ending! After so much time together there's no way Clint will ever underestimate Loki's ability to escape whatever's coming. And one awkward goodbye kiss, because goddammit he's still attached, and even though we don't get much of Loki's reaction to it, his hands seem very telling. That was probably my favorite part. :D

So good! So happy! Thank you so much!

Nice. I don't even like Loki; I only read this to see what you made of the prompt. This was a satisfying read. Thanks.

Wow. I'm glad you decided to check this out and that it satisfied you. I'm so used to writing for people who are already fans of the characters I write and I almost never hear from non-fans, so it's great to read your thoughts on it.

Hell-LO, ship I never thought I'd ship...and still kind of don't, but the strange, not-sure-how-to-feel way it was all written is just delightful. And your Loki is pitch-perfect. Excellent job!

Yeah, this isn't a hardcore ship for me, either, but it was fun to write. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Thank you so much!
