(Just assume that Natasha never met JARVIS during her stint as Natalie Rushman, or put in a scene taking place before everyone else met him.)

I keep seeing prompts and stories where Steve and Thor have the most incredulous reaction to JARVIS.

But Steve is already living in the future, so AI is right there with things he'd expect to exist. And Thor has a magical hammer that responds to state of soul, disembodied voices opening doors for you seems quite normal to him.

Clint and Bruce, though, are suddenly in sci-fi-land. And Natasha was startled, but hid it quickly.

“A talking house, huh?” Steve mused, looking up at the ceiling as if he might catch a glimpse of Jarvis himself. “Does everyone have one of these, or is it just the very rich?”

Tony looked bemused.

“As far as I am aware, sir, Mr. Stark is the only one,” Jarvis said smoothly.

“...really?” Steve frowned thoughtfully. “Huh. Would have thought they’d be more common by now.”

“Mr. Barton, if you are going to wander my ductworks, might I at least direct you to the lower levels? This system is not meant to hold that much weight.”

Clint froze at the voice.

“You mean Stark has cameras in his air conditioning?” he asked incredulously.

“As well as microphones,” Jarvis answered. Clint stared.

“…well, shit.”

“I believe Mr. Stark wished to be thorough, sir,” Jarvis said dryly.

“That’s a little Big Brother, don’t you think?” Clint muttered, shimmying his way to the nearest access point.

I absolutely LOVE your take on Steve- I think he needs to be written this way more often. I mean, even back in the forties he was witness to some pretty amazing technology, it makes total sense that he'd take most of 2012 in stride.

This was so great. Steve was wonderful. That vauge disinterest/dissapointment. Where's his flying car? He's read sci-fi; he knows what the future is supposed to be like.

I can never get enough of startled!Clint crawling in airducks either.
