[Crossover] TDKR/Avengers Bane has each Avenger caught and brought to him separately. anonymous August 24 2012, 22:11:56 UTC
Kidnapped, held at gunpoint, maybe drugged or knocked unconscious from afar, anything. Point is, he gets them, and the torture begins.

I'm not a huge Batman fan, but Bane is a great villain. He knows how to hurt people from the inside out.

So he tortures them in front of each other. Taunts them, humiliates them, lets them see via newspapers or radio reports how the villains are taking over New York without the Avengers there to stop them.

And then, one by one, he starts to break them. Clint and Natasha first. Because they've been trained for this, and if they crack, the rest will crumble.

The one thing he didn't count on? Thor. Who had been in Asgard, and returned to find the city in chaos. Thor, who is physically matched and can take this mortal on. Thor, who is fucking pissed by what he's found here.

The rest, dear anon, is up to you.

just a little interesting tidbit -- in DC vs. Marvel crossover (iirc), Cap takes on Bane and kicks his ass.

The Widow came next. Bane rolled a television into her dimly lit room. She was clever enough not to fight. Her blue eyes studied her restraints on the table and she wiggled her toes and fingers, searching for a weak spot ( ... )

The Hulk arrived in a semi. By the time Bane flung the doors open, the beast had reverted to the small, unassuming scientist. Bane was disappointed---he'd looked forward to wrangling the Hulk, sitting on top of his head and dangling between his fingers. But his original self might prove easier to work with ( ... )

He tangles the playboy's body in wires and lifts that glowing blue circle off his chest. Stark awakes in a flurry of gasps and wheezes ( ... )

Out of all of them, the thought of facing this man excited Bane the most. The Captain fought well, as Bane assumed he would. He threw admirable punches. Very clean, very precise. All Bane had to do was block ( ... )

Bane put the phone away and the Captain stood back up, taking desparate swings at spots of air inches from Bane's head before collapsing onto his knees.

"You told him to...you made him...you got him at..." the Captain spluttered. His body shook, but his blue eyes were steely.

"I gave him a decision," Bane said. "He made it."

Horror crept into the Captain's eyes and he blinked back tears. Another "I'm sorry" fell out of his mouth. Bane had never met anyone who'd meant those words before. It was a pitiful sight. So Bane picked him coat up off the floor, pulled the arc reactor out of the pocket.

"Take this as a token of my apologies," Bane said as he thrust the reactor into the Captain's hand.

Captain America saw the reactor glowing blue in his palm, but did not respond. No screams, no tears, just quiet trembling. Bane thought that suited a quietly righteous man. He nodded curtly and left.

Just one left. This one wasn't even on their little team, but he intriguing Bane endlessly. He had to go through layers of illusions and "magic", but eventually, this man fell. The sorcerer's petulance, pride and ambition caved in on him as soon as Bane broke past all of the multiples. The man had expected a brutish fool who plowed headlong into his enemies without a second thought. He had been sorely mistaken ( ... )

He had done it. He had turned the world's most powerful nation on its head. Blood washed onto the Mississippi's banks. The rich cowered in the penthouses while street thugs became gods. And no one could come to the rescue, as though anyone needed rescuing in this new utopia ( ... )

OP here!

Wow, I really wasn't expecting anybody to fill this. It's so good! Really well-written, all the aaaangst (I began to wonder what I'd wished for when I was reading about my poor bb Clint) and the dialogue was spot on and intelligent. I hope each respective baby-venger is found alive, but I do actually kind of like how it's not mentioned either. It adds to the tone.

I'm so glad you did this, thank you so much!

Thank you so much! I just stumbled upon this as I was scrolling through the most recent pages of the meme, and I'd been thinking about Bane meeting the Avengers quite a bit lately, so I had to fill it.

all the aaaangst (I began to wonder what I'd wished for when I was reading about my poor bb Clint)

Yeah, this is definitely the darkest thing I've ever written (so far). I think all of the Avengers are alive at the end, but Tony is dangerously close to the edge.

You're welcome! This was a blast to fill!

I was getting worried until I saw the Loki section. Then I started cackling gleefully at my computer. Because if there's one sure way to get Thor pissed off other than harming the Avengers, it's hurting Loki.

...will Bruce ever come back? *wibbles*

Wow, I didn't even think of it that way before, but now I can see it. Thank you for offering this thought.

I'd like to think Bruce comes back, but I prefer to leave that up to the reader.
