Well your father is right... It's Fear... Fear of something they don't understand. This has happened through the ages. Salem Witch Trials, The Spanish Inquisition, etc. Look at the History books and you'll realize that man has decided that it's easier to get rid of what they don't understand rather than taking the time and learn about it. It's that kind of narrow mindedness that get's laughed and placed in the history books to make people "not repeat the same mistakes" and even though mankind takes this lessons into mind... it seems that at the time they are really needed, they just discard it for the angry and hateful feeling they decide to use instead towards the situation.
