The difference between "cute" and "hot"

Jun 15, 2010 10:06

Could someone please explain to me the difference between "cute" and "hot"? I've had like a half dozen guys on Grindr all say that I'm cute, and I don't know how to take that...

Interesting question, and there is a difference.

Being told you're hot is a flat statement that they would like to get with you. Spend some time, make some noises, squirt some fluids, you know, whatever.

Being told you're cute is basically a nice way of saying that they don't really want to sleep with you, but perhaps other people might. It's more ambivalent and a good way of rebuffing people without hurting their feelings.

Cute seems more sincere to me rather than hot since I've always
thought of 'hot' as something someone'd say to someone else
just in passing, like it isn't a serious thing.
I'd take being called 'cute' over 'hot' anyday.

Late reply, I know...

To me, cute means I might wanna date you, hot means I definitely want to fuck you.

I'd prefer cute in most instances.
