if this is a pity party, someone better bring the ice cream

No one said it would be easy, but no one said it'd be this hard.- Since my beloved mmb2 quoted Sheryl Crow in her last entry, I couldn't help but follow suit.

It's my first autumn north of the Mason-Dixon line.  Eight degrees above freezing today.  I have two coats, a pair of gloves, and a pink scarf that my Melanie made me.  I keep thinking of the ( Read more... )

if you'd like, i'll gladly send you a copy of from a basement on the hill to tide you over until you can buy one. (you need to hear it). you, my dear, rock my socks. i want to visit new york so badly (so desperately!), and when i do, we must get together for coffee or drinks (or both, and this 3am falafel you speak of).

and thank you for what you said. it means everything during these days when i'm so tired of me i can hardly speak. yes. thanks.

... I will live and i will be warm and I will make it here.

(i have complete faith in you.) xo--jenny...

Thank you for putting so eloquently what I have been trying to say for months. Everything seems to come out as "I'm afraid to be cold." But you have hit the proverbial nail on the head.

No one said it would be easy, but no one said it'd be this hard.

I need to cut that down and post it somewhere in my empty and somewhat cold apartment. Living on your own is an adventure no matter where you go. Mine just happens to be in Cary.

Good luck sweety! You are not alone.

Wow, a lot of this seems to echo my experience of living in Calgary when I saw snow fall in the first week of June. *sigh* The true test of making it in the cold was when I landed in Moscow on the coldest day of the year. Yes, that was cold. Now I feel like I could survive any cold that the USA could bring my way. :)

Fortunately for you, NYC isn't as cold as Calgary or Moscow. =) However, your "NYC existence" has certainly brightened up two of my recent visits there. I really couldn't imagine trying to live there with only an internship though. You are a very brave woman!

I plan to be a wimp and get some kind of somewhat high-paying computer programming job there even if it drives me insane (which it just might). Then I would definitely be up for treating you to some organic Mexican food or a falafel!

Anyway, best of luck!

It's interesting to read this post, after having come to know the confident, semi-settled, kicking-nyc's-ass You first. Following your journey (albeit in reverse, such as these weblogs tend to go) is inspiring, and it's definitely heightening my desire to be in your city that much more.

The reason i'm here, actually, was to ask a quick question. At the coffee shop, you'd mentioned a good media job site, and i can't recall the title. MediaSomething.com. If you happen to know any good memory-enhancement programs, send me in the direction, too.

All right, post accomplished. I actually have been shying away from here in favor of the blog on my own domain, which i'll be happy to tell you all about the next time we communicate outside of livejournal.

Do you listen to king missile? (This is important.)
