I was disappointed to hear that the Holocaust/chattel slavery comparisons are still being used and I still think the concept of "speciesism" is a little wobbly, but that was definitely thought-provoking. I'd really be interested in a documentary based on entirely 2007/2008-era footage and data discussing the gains of the animal rights movement while also featuring the opinions of medical researchers, nutritionists, ecologists, activists, and other people involved in the debate from both sides of the issue. I realize its not in the interest of the animal rights movement to present conflicting viewpoints, but I think hearing the arguments from the horse's mouth (!) so to speak would be more convincing than the "voice-over paired with Ludovico technique" approach. Maybe that's just me though.

i'd have to agree. I thought the antitesting argument was by far the weakest one in the film. There was a previous ALF video I'd seen that focused on a comparison between the treatment of the animals and the gains of the science as well as the validity of the bridge between the two of them.

This film is only powerful because of the raw footage. I wasn't aware that anything could actually be fully skinned alive until i watched this film. And something can live remarkably long with a detached jugular, carotid, and esophagus. Again, raw footage made to aim at the food and clothing debate. It is a bit of a strawman because you're comparing their suffering to personal luxury, but any victory is a victory right?

i believe the film was Behind the Mask (http://video.google.com/videosearch?q=behind+the+mask&emb=0&aq=f#q=behind%20the%20mask%20a.l.f.&emb=0)

though i'm not positive because i haven't watched it in a couple of years.

again, has it's flaws. More evangelical than fact crunching and good god goldfinger is the worst band ever. If you can forgive goldfinger then you might be able to forgive the guy with the stethoscope pretending to be a doctor too. Oh well, i guess i just pretended it was more than it was.

There is Unnecessary Fuss though. Links from the wiki page

I know that I have more reliable sources; I wrote a paper on it last year. I just have to dig it up.
