After thinking I was out of the woods health-wise, I came down with a hell of a bug on Wednesday night. I woke Thursday morning to intense throat pain. Went to the Doctor, who threw antibiotics at me unhelpfully while saying "well honey I don't know what it is!! Some sort of tonsillitis!" oh and, "Gargle with salt water and take ibuprofen!"
Thursday - Fever, sweating, chills, barely able to eat (lack of appetite), tonsils swollen.
Friday - Tonsils swell more. I could talk about how they looked but that's gross. I was in so much pain all day. Fever gone but sweats remain. Ew.
Friday Night - slept 1-2 hours at a time, slept with my mouth open drying my tonsils out and further increasing the pain they were in. PAIN WHEN BREATHING...
Saturday - Tonsils swell MORE! Collapse in agony in the morning about how my life is ending, etc. Got over it (salt water gargles & chloraseptic throat spray). Felt better throughout the day, swelling went down minorly, enough that I felt good enough to go to a friend's dinner that evening and peck at some risotto.
Saturday night - ffffff. I slept in 15-45 minute increments, had extreme pain, splitting headache, awful awful.
Sunday morning - Another state of hopeless agony. After a couple salt-water gargles and investigating the size of my tonsils (they're less swollen!) I regained my hope in my continued life on planet earth. Now I'm doing laundry, think I'll make it in to work, and wow, am I much more experienced at throat pain management.
I can't decide if I've had tonsillitis this bad before. Maybe when I had Mono?
