Hmmm. I am gonna have to think about this one. Isnt this kind of a worst case scenario though?

It is, and is has a fair amount of Republican party slant in it. But I think it is something to watch in the next couple of years.

I think it's pretty much ridiculous fearmongering.

I hope it is.

but what if it comes to pass? I don't want to live in a European socialist state. If I did, I would have already moved there...

Actually, if it comes to what is described above, I'll probably learn Chinese and go to Hong Kong.

The basic premise of the writing is flawed. I could not really get past the first paragraph. The assumption at the end that the depression is a result of private debt is flat out wrong.

And as far as I'm concerned, talk radio is wasted bandwidth. All of it.

Just because I don't like it doesn't mean that others aren't allowed to enjoy it. As Bryan would say, "Some people like to golf."

Pardon the late reply, just getting caught up on LJ.

As previously commented, this is full of worst-case-scenario conjecture. Speaking in broad strokes, I'd say that a lot of unpopular changes are going to be made during Obama's presidency; however, given the number of unpopular changes that were made during Bush's presidency, I'd say he could hardly do worse.

The part about driving talk radio to the internet cracked me up. ALL radio is largely being driven to the internet, and there's not much that can be done to stop it. Just as horse-drawn carriages were driven into obscurity by the internal combustion engine, just as Vaudeville gave way to the talkies, radio is eventually going to fall to the internet. I don't get the reactionary sentimentality... why not just go with it?

In the name of short-term stimulus, he will give every American family (who makes less than $200,000) a welfare check of $1,000 euphemistically called a refundable tax credit.SHENANNIGANS. The writer took the concept of the tax credit, euphemised it as ( ... )

Could this be step one?

I have to admit I am intrigued with the reaction of the GOP senators. Could this be truthfull and Obama really did reach out to republicans because h had problems with the bill? Or are they just kissing his in the hopes of courting favor with the president?
