Wear a suit with some kind of quirk that'll remind people that you're both stylish and memorable (I never got the hang of that bit). Be prepared to talk about just about anything. Take lots of business cards.

Wear something you don't look like a plonker in but people will remember - some flash of unusual colour? Don't forget your business cards/whatever it is you're hoping they'll take with you - and hand out generously every time you meet a new person. If the conversation starts running dry, excuse yourself before it's obvious and move on to someone else. Don't be afraid to slide into a gap in a conversation and introduce yourself when people are already talking.
Remember to just think, 'that's the worst that can happen if I talk to theis person'? It can't be that bad..you could make a tit of yourself and never see them again. At the end of the day you'll be going back to the security of your own home and someone who's not judging.
