yes indeed it rules. or also like, forging 2 items together to make a new super-weapon, or linking two cartriges together in real life to make 1 superior game. lock-on technology is fantastic.

No, I agree. Like, I want my characters to individually mean something, instead of being an ensemble of characters that just rock your face. Like, the characters in Sharknife have to be crucial to sharknife. as they are now, it's just the fact that they are IN sharknife that makes them crucial. they need to nourish the book as much as the book nourishes them. if that makes any sense. it's kind of a tall order when most of the book is about earth-shattering battles and energy. how to make a character as interesting as an enflamed punch in the face? gotta get that.

but actually, they don't have to nourish the book as MUCH as the book's energy nourishes them. coz like, that's the POINT of the book existing. to make the characters interesting. a little effort on the character's part would be good, tho :]

ya, i almost got it.

I think if Sharknife's missing anything, it's some kind of a quest. Like obviously Sharky has to react to Ombra's plans, but I think to kick the book up to the next level, Sharky himself needs a goal. Like to find perfect enlightenment by perfecting his pivit-posing kung fu skillz. Or by finding out the sourse of his own power. Maybe a quest for revenge.

As far as fleshing out the characters, I think you were already on your way. You're obviously developing some of the Spice Cadets, and Ombra is a pretty clearly defined character. You also gave us plenty of hope for Cheiko. I just think the characters (mostly Sharknife) need motivation. But still. It kicks asss. The whole book. And the second book will be even greater.
