You're right. The people who appeal to me the most, as friends, tend to be those who seem happy, or even just calm, as a default state instead of in rare, exceptional flashes of pleasure. (I suppose I hope that such states might turn out to be contagious.) People who seem to genuinely like and take an interest in almost all other people they meet are also strikingly wonderful-- it's because most of us, most of the time, aren't that way. And I wish we could be, or maybe even think we should be. I like your entries; they remind me of things. They remind me to be contemplative and to not assume that everything I think or feel is true.
