These are the top 106 books most often marked as "unread" by LibraryThing's users (as of 30 September 2007). As usual, bold what you have read, italicise what you started but couldn't finish, and strike through what you couldn't stand. Add an asterisk to those you've read more than once. Underline those on your to-read list.

I think you'd like The Blind Assassin. It's by Margaret Atwood (who also wrote The Handmaid's Tale) and it's quite good. I also heartily recommend both Life of Pi and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius. They're really good.

I have a midterm tomorrow too! Mine's on astronomy. What is yours on?

Ooh, I loved The Handmaid's Tale. I continue to want to read other stuff by her, and I eventually will. As for Life of Pi, I was so disappointed when I realized that "Pi" was a name, not a number, that I've essentially decided to boycott the book for false advertising.

Gender & Women's Studies. I wish I had a better idea how to study. Are you reasonably prepared? Good luck!

Well, Pi is actually named after a swimming pool (I can't remember his middle name, but his first name is Piscine) and to avoid people mispronouncing his name, he would run up to the board on the first day of class and write MY NAME IS PISCINE (rest of his name). YOU CAN CALL ME PI. PI=3.14...
So it does involve Pi! Huzzah!

I'm kind of prepared, but I'm going to do some more studying today in between classes. Good luck on your midterm!

I second Life of Pi! I was disappointed about it not being about 3.14 too, but got over it b/c it's a really good read.

I plan to. What's the writing style like?

Hmmmm not sure exactly how to characterize the writing style, esp. since I read this like 3 or 4 years ago. It's a pretty smooth narrative.
