Oh dear, here we go again.

Unfortunately, the Potrero area is on fire. The area between Ramona and the ranch is on fire as well. For the moment the winds are pushing the fire west and south, away from the ranch, and for them I am hopeful that it doesn't change. Of course there are a lot more people in Ramona with a lot more to loose than my aunt and uncle ( Read more... )

There's a fire over the hill from us, too. Same area, third time this year. OC is ALWAYS on fire, and I'm so sick of it! I hope we don't have to even *think* about evacuating.

My grandparents lost their garage and the house next door in the fires of 2003 in San Bernardino. They were pretty lucky not to loose much else. My Mom, a few blocks away, was still un-evacuated.

They wait until the last minute to make people leave, and it's got to be pretty fracking extreme for them to issue an evac order. They also start working really really hard when it threatens neighborhoods.

What bothers me is the smoke. Makes me all sneezy. For me the costs of living in rural CA is constant fire threat. I want to move somewhere wetter. After gardening here last year I am completely convinced that we have a major water problem that most people aren't paying attention to.

I'm ready to move to the east coast or northwest. I love California like it's my baby, but I'm so tired of the droughts and the fire danger.

Right now there are large portions of trees blowing across my roof and landing in the back yard. Trees are down all over the place, traffic signals out, transformers exploding. It's crazy over here.
