I resonate lots with this post, lady. Also with being yet another LJ-ing grandma. Sigh.

I've always enjoyed good writers on el jay, and you have always been one of them. No matter what kind of shenanigans you were into.

I found your lj through your artwork and it was a a double-feature that I enjoyed your writing too (loved the epic commentary on "Twilight"). I'm excited to see what evolves from all this. LJ certainly isn't in its heyday anymore, but some of us still stick around :)

I will be 35 in October and have been having this debate with myself for awhile.
When is it time to "grow up" and stop caring about being "cool".
Now sounds like a good time.
I have always thought you were cool.
I like that your recent posts are like "Hey, here's me in jeans and no makeup with my boyfriend on vacation...we like to eat delicious food"
Not "Here's me with pink hair in an awesome vintage dress and listen to my adventures in meeting hot dudes at a rockabilly show"
That was AV PHIBES the personality...the character you played for a long time.
The girl in the t shirt and jeans who loves her cat and her boyfriend and has real day to day issues...that's Alia.
and I like her a lot.
So, welcome to LJ Alia.
I look forward to hearing from you.

It has helped that Richard is not really into scenester tomfoolery. I remember when we started going out, I'd take him to things and it would be like:
Richard: Why are we here?
Me: Because it gives me "cred."
Richard: What do you need "cred" for?
Me: Uh.......
