I like my soups to have as little broth as possible in each bite. thus, I will drink the broth until i get the desired amount remaining in the bowl.
Tacos: couple bites on one side, then switch to the other to prevent any content that might have been displaced from spilling out.
Cake: I will eat cake so that each bite has a proportionate amount of frosting/what have you in it. for cakes that have a substantional coating of frosting on the side, i will save that for consumption by itself, but only if it comes from the side.
Sandwiches: i will always bite off any dangling ingrediant first (overhanging lettuce, onions, that sort of thing) so that the remainder does not protrude from the bread border.
In general: if given the option to eat something from a bowl or a plate, I will invariable choose a bowl.

Taco: I hope no one eats one any other way.
Cake: I generally eat or scrape off as much icing as I think is necessary to leave 'just enough'--I like the cake part a crapload more than the icing.
Sandwiches: This is true of me with hamburgers... not so much with subs, though I may push the escaping ingredients back into the bun.
