Would anyone know where I could find a vacant house? [Merlin pauses, drumming his fingers against the journal's pages.] This apartment is getting a little cramped--[and the next bit sounds rather forced, as though someone had expressly ordered him to say it:] It's not really up to snuff for a King of Camelot and his royal household.

[ emony can't be of much help by way of suggesting housing, but the word "royal" does catch her attention and she can't help but inquire. she's spoken to merlin before, but she had no idea he had royal connections. ]

[ well now, that was unexpected. the unfortunately part that is. she now sounds rather amused. ]

Unfortunately? Why would having connections to royalty be unfortunate of all things?

I would not even begin to suggest that my connections are of the enviable sort. [He plays this one coyly. Nope, he was none too fond of admitting to be a manservant.]

King... wait, you work for a king? Who's in the royal household? And, um, what building are you living in now? [ she'll get out the map and try to look for something close by, maybe... ]

I work for a prince. [He corrects, gently.] And we've been staying in building six.

[Pause.] But--Xion? How are you?

[voice] oh that's alright. |D sorry for being horribly slow with that.

Um... I'm not positive which ones are empty, but... wow, you're pretty far from the middle of the village. [ looking at the map while they talk. ] Maybe the "royal household" should be closer...? [ she says it with a little humor, at least.

but his question makes her pause. anyone asking her that lately makes her uneasy. hesitantly: ] ... why do you ask?

[voice] oh gosh, don't worry. i'm just kinda googly eyed

I was always taught that it was the courteous thing to do. [He replies with just a touch of cheek.]

[He stands with one hand outstretched towards the chair, goading the lilac bush up, higher. There is an enthused and engaged smile on his face but it's all wiped off when he hears someone.]

[Setting his eyes on the visitor, Merlin's arm drops fast. Although the lilacs remain, they seem to deflate and wilt in the absence of his attention. The young warlock shakes his head clear.] Err, can I help you?

Merlin? [It has been awhile.]

[awaitingalbion]

[His friendly voice comes out.]

Ah--hello. How are you?

Fine, all things considered.

[Pause. He heard those complaints and tones.]

...Are you alright?

M-me? I'm great. Never better. Just another day on the job, you know.

[ After spending time with Vyse in the clinic all day, Fina only has enough time to look in the library in the evening. Not fully comprehending the concept of ghosts and haunting, she does not find the sounds coming from deeper within the library that disturbing.

But she does want to find out what the strange noise is though and follows the sounds, but instead gets a shock when the page of a book catches fire and illuminates Merlin's face and ducks back behind the bookcase she wandered out from behind. ]

[At the instinct that someone was watching him, Merlin extinguishes the magical fire.]

Is someone there?

[ She pokes her head out from behind the bookcase. ]

Um.. it's me.

[He stumbles, rushing to close up some of his books and hurry to the book-shelf that she is behind.] What are you doing here?
