[Merlin wakes up in the forest, face first in the snow. He blinks, groans, and rolls over. It's cold and pretty wet, but it is also a more welcome pillow than horse manure. And, so, it means that he isn't in Camelot's stables. That is troubling ( Read more... )

[Since it's the time of the month when New Feathers were sent in, Soushi responds to things that he would have ignored otherwise] ...Excuse me.

[A talking book. Weird. But not too weird.

But...was it talking to him?]

Err, yeah? [He sounds lost. Very much so.]

[Just to make sure,] ...I'm sorry if this seems to be an odd question, but do you know of Luceti?

Luceti? Is that one of the other kingdoms?

Nobody much likes it here, I don't think.

Still, we make do. Your friend Arthur may very well not be here, though. Can't say I've seen any Arthurs lately.

Oh. He's here. These kinds of interesting and dangerous things only happen because someone's trying to get Arthur. He's probably been kidnapped for ransom, I bet.

[More hope than annoyance. He doesn't want to think about being somewhere that isn't with Arthur. After all, his majesty would probably go and do something inconvenient without him. Like get killed.]

Well, we've all been kidnapped, but I don't think there are any ransoms involved. We don't have contact with the outside world, here.

No contact. [More a statement, less a question.] Wow. That's...a problem.

Late, sire?

[Merlin is thoroughly freaked. Of all the voices in all the worlds, he would never have expected to hear Arthur through an obviously magical book.

His tactic is to ask some lame question to stall for time while he thinks this one through:] Late for what?

[Well, hello half naked boy in the snow. Obviously you're a new feather, and that's exactly why Rinoa can't leave you be. Besides, she was out walking her dog anyway, so she just got lucky when she spotted him. Have her approaching you, though odds are, he's going to have a dog in his face before she gets to him.]

Hello. [And just to be sure.] Don't worry, she won't bite.

[wtf large animal of some sort]

Huh? [Merlin, not entirely free of the groggy awakening, looks a little terrified at the sight of the dog.]

Angelo! Come over here. [The dog trots back to it's owner side instantly and Rinoa steps closer, kneeling down beside Merlin.]

My name is Rinoa Heartilly. Welcome to Luceti.

[Brushing wet, cold snow from his hands.]

Luceti. Right--tell me, how close is that to Camelot? Because I really should be getting back home.

Oh well. You never know until you ask him.

By the way, who's Arthur?

Arthur's this...guy. [He aims for vague, but reconsiders.] He's my employer.

I think--[he pauses, so very unsure of his words]--I think he can be.
