no no no... it makes sense. mountain top doesnt charge the people on the mountain when the groups do work for them. the participants pay about $300 for their campweek and we raise this money to cover the expenses of food and gas and utilities... things like that. plus the supplies for the worksite. things like paint and lumber aren't cheap. it makes a lot of sense to me, because all of that money has to come from somewhere and if we didn't raise it then the participant cost would be a lot higher and a lot of people wouldnt be able to afford it. as long as i know where the money is going i dont worry about it as much. it makes sense to me and its going to a good cause.

Can't the people who run it raise the money? I mean... in getting friends and family to donate all this money, aren't basically raising your own salary?

you raise your expenses and supply money. the people who run this work full time setting up projects, supplies, and staffs. they have a ton of differnet projects that run at all times of the year, i'm working at the summer youth mission. and they work full time and live in tennessee, there's only so much money you can get from one area. some people make donations, but the full time staff is busy and has to get other things done in order to make the whole ministry possible.
ok that is such a rip off "if u wanna work here give us money" that is prob how they are going to pay you at the end of the summer! with the money you raised to go there! but hey ill give you like 5-10$$$$ if you really wanna go
