By far my favorite challenge for the sims 2 was awesomsauce. I really enjoyed how each gen was a new challenge. So when I started putzing with the sims recently I really wanted to do it again. The problem? I only play the Sims 3 now and the old rules were just not set up to accommodate it. So with the blessing and help of
tinykat I have reworked the rules to work with the Sims 3. I started with a copy/paste version of the original rules and edited from there.
All suggestions are more than welcome. This is obviously a work in progress as we don't have all the ep's yet. Also a big thanks to
silverwyd as she is the one who started to convert the rules. I've used most of her changes here
Basic Rules
-Standard legacy rules apply.
- Like, the original legacy, no cheats are allowed
- Limit of 2 children per generation. No trying to force twins or triplets.
- No Boarding School (generations)
- Your heir must have a wedding party
- At the end of the legacy (10 generations) at least one sim must have a level 3 visa for all locations.
- Sim’s last name must be related to the rainbow/color in some way (in can be as random and obscure as you would like)
- Sim’s first name must be somehow related to the color assigned to that generation
Each generation is based on a different color and that color must be present and obvious in some way (make-up, dress, hair color, house décor, etc.)
- Each generation has a specific challenge(s) based on the color of that generation. When playing that generation please make sure you meet all parts of the challenge (when possible)!
Generation Challenges
Generation One
Color: Blue
Challenge: Getting Started
As it is already difficult enough to begin a legacy with no cheating there is no “additional” challenges for this generation. I wonder how long it will be until your founder has wallpaper in all rooms??
Generation Two
Color: Orange
Challenge: Creativity & Activity
Orange is a bright and happy color. It is full of energy and can even convince the laziest person to get off their butt. It is even known to incite creativeness in even the most “uncreative people”. Thus for the orange generation it is all about creativity and physical activity.
- Money may only be made by novels/painting/music
- Must Know All music compositions for 1 instrument (all learnable guitar/bass/keyboard songs)
- Full Athletic Skill
- Must be Sim FU Master (world adventures)
- If a sim is given an imaginary friend at birth they must keep it and keep best friend status with it until adulthood.(generations)
Generation Three
Color: Black
Challenge: Extreme Failure
Black is dark and moody. Black is the absence of light and thus loneliness. Black is fail, at least for the sake of this challenge. Last generation was all about was all about the bright happy side of life. This generation what they want doesn’t matter…it’s all about their failures. And sibling rivalry and discord???? THE MORE THE BETTER!!!!
- Sim may not get dream job until they get to the top of the “opposite” career path
Example: Wants Top of Dance: Must Reach Top of Military
Use your best judgments for which are opposites
Must do this even if your sim has a career related LTW
- Sim must have either the Unlucky or Loser trait.
- Black generation sims have a hard time relating to people. Maybe they should go to the graveyard to find some friends. Must have at least 2 (not family) ghost friends.
- Heir must be a Black Sheep*
*Black Sheep, for the sake of this challenge, is described is the sim with lowest relationship with their parents/siblings. When they hit their teen years they “rebel”. The player must full fill all ‘rebellion’ wants that show up during teenhood (generations)
Generation Four
Color: Purple
Challenge: Royalty
In many cultures purple represents a position of royalty. In this generation your sims will be treated like royalty and have their needs met as though they were a king or queen. The dark days are over, now it's time to sit back and enjoy life.
- Must fulfill at least one want per day for each sim
- Heir must not be forced to do any “chores” (washing, taking out the trash, scrubbing toilets). Those activities are meant for lesser sims.
- Royal Sim parents only do the fun stuff with their children! No learning boring things, purple sims only play with their kids. Leave toilet training to someone else.
Generation Five
Color: Brown
Challenge: Down to Earth
Brown represents the earth and those who are down to earth aren’t concerned with day to day boring jobs. Furthermore they won’t spend their days cooped up in a house watching reruns of Law and Order: SVU (only tinykat does that). Rather, they will be out getting their hands dirty digging in the earth. And that is just what this generation’s challenge is.
- Only make money from harvest/dug up/foraged/fished items.
- Must have full gardening skill
- Must complete all gardening challenges
Generation Six
Color: Green
Challenge: Money, Money, Money
Green is the color of money, and this generation your sims are all about money. The more money they make the better!
- Reach Top of 2 Career Tracks
- Make $100,000
- Must fully own at least one venue in town (bookstore, theatre, arena)
Generation Seven
Color: Yellow
Challenge: The Pursuit of Hope
Yellow can symbolize hope. What better way to represent that than the hope of setting out and making your own way in the world. These sims are not dependent on the ‘man’ for their nine to five! Instead they set their own hours and make some friends along the way.
- Sim reach level 10 in one profession ( or level 5 in daycare)
- If the profession has an acheivment award it must be gained.
- Must complete all five charisma challenges. The challenges are Celebrity, Personable, Super Friendly, Everyone’s Best Friend, Comedian.
Generation Eight
Color: Red
Challenge: Fiery Passion
It is no secret that red is the color of passion, of love and of explosive things. Those who love red are often extremely ambitious, but slightly reckless. Therefore, the challenge for this generation is achieving what you have always dreamed of, and having passionate relationships.
- Must have either the Hot Headed or Dramatic traits.
- Greet New People w/ Arguing
- 5 Lovers (Who don’t know about each other)
Generation Nine
Color: Pink
Challenge: The Glamour Life!
Only the most glamourous sims can wear pink! This generation is all about living the highlife. If you’re the most glamorous sim in town then everyone should know your name.
- Top Celebrity Status
- Reach the top of the Acting or Music Career
- Glamorous sims are the height of fashion! The heir will change outfits every other day (unless pregnant)
Generation Ten
Color: White
Challenge: A Return to the Basics
White represents simplicity, purity and innocence. After ten generations of ups and downs, it is time to return to a more simple life. Yes, you have likely amassed a great deal of wealth, but in an effort to return to the “humble beginnings” that money will have no use. We have come full circle and this generation is all about starting over and living a more simple life.
No Boyfriend/Girlfriend/Spouse/Live-In Partner
One Room House (A return to the simple days)
No Plumbing
I've left a lot of wiggle room here so that we can edit this as we go. I really really love any and all suggestions and ideas. This is a community so we should all have some input. ALSO I think there are some traits that will work beautifully (either for or against) each generation. Can you imagine being brow gen and hating the outdoors? Fun! Alright guys, get playing, and remember to post any legacy you start from this right here in
awesimsauce so we can all see it!
