Ellie was currently sitting on her bed just kind of staring off at nothing. She wasn't exactly sure what she was feeling right now. She should be angry or sad or...something.

That's how people were supposed to react when their fathers promised them pancakes for dinner only to disappear without a trace instead. They'd gone to his hotel room to meet

Chuck dropped down onto the bed beside her after a moment with a deep sigh.

"So--"

No, he didn't really know where he was going with that. What were they supposed to say about something like this?

"Have I mentioned I'm glad you're here?" Ellie said quietly. That seemed like a good thing to say.

"You have," Chuck said, and sent a slightly hesitant smile her way as he went to put an arm around his sister for a half a hug. "But I'll always take more."

"Kinda glad I'm here too, in a weird way."

Ellie was grateful for the hug. It was definitely needed. "Chuck...I think this just proves that we can really only rely on each other."

She felt it was something that needed to be said.

Morgan hadn't been told what was going on; he just wanted to play Mario Kart on the promised giant TV. When Chuck wasn't in his room, he checked Ellie's.

"Any Bartowskis around?" he called through the door. "And, uh, it's cool i'm up here, right? This isn't the girl's floor?"

"You can come in, Morgan," Ellie called, recognizing his voice.

"No girls floors around here," Chuck added for the sake of reassurance on that count.

"I was promised Mario Kart," were the first words out of Chuck's mouth as he came through the door.

Then he really looked at Chuck and Ellie. "Guys, what's wrong? You look like they made another Space Battles movie and it sucked."
