indirectly related, but are you on fastweb (scholarships and such database)? you should be. always meant to ask/mention it. there are tons of writing scholarships and such that offer not only college $ but publication, and sometimes publication DEALS.

not that you'd be writing for purposes defined for you, but it reminded me because i just recently came across one that asked applicants to write a children's story or story suitable for children of a certain age range.

thought if you were gonna write one anyway, it might be of interest.
