The First Hatching - The Time Is Now

Feb 19, 2011 12:09

The hum started with the great Queen herself. Floanth hummed deeply to her eggs, all fifteen rocking slightly. The dragonets inside were ready to hatch, it was time. The hum was picked up by Gallant, the bronze deeper than the Queen and going through all the dragons in the Weyr. The air itself was humming and instantly spurred everyone into action ( Read more... )

Dani was actually startled by the Weyr's response to the humming. She felt down to her bones, even Allegro was humming the whole place was. She was kind of freaked out for the first time since coming here. Her roommate, some native girl, was getting into her white gown so Dani did too. She didn't like people seeing when she was nervous.

She followed the crowd out, kind of reassured by the dragonrider, Z'lan, being there. He actually looked excited. The whole place looked excited. It had to be a good thing and hey she had Allegro so she stood a good chance, right?

The sands were hot under her feet. She was kind of shocked at how hot. It was like desert hot. She shifted from foot to foot, watching the eggs and wondering if she was ready for this.

The first egg to break open was a blue. It tumbled out onto the sands, shaking his body and sending goo splattering on the eggs near by. The little blue looked around, taking the sights in and completely relaxed about having just hatched into a strange world of noise and color.

Another egg near by was showing signs of splitting. It would be the next to hatch. There were no glimpses of what dragon might be inside but it was only a matter of time.

Dani licked her lips nervously, feeling much like Allegro just suddenly afraid of all of this. What the hell was she doing on another planet with dragons? What the hell was she doing?

The leaf green walked through the candidates, looking at the expectant faces with an eager gleam. She finally stopped in front her choice, her expression very pleased.

My Danielle, I was looking for you. Your Anyuth would like to go eat and would like it if you fed her.

Lyle shrugged into his dorky white outfit. Oh, god. This was really happening. They really expected him to stand in front of a bunch of dragons and wait for one to pick him. He followed the group out onto the sands, fidgeting anxiously.

The first dragonet onto the sands was a blue, one that was looking around and taking his time in getting to the candidates. He was much more interested in exploring things first, though his explorations were taking him slowly closer and closer to the waiting candidates.

The next egg open revealed a beautiful dark green. She focused on the candidates immediately before quickly getting distracted by her blue brother. Then she gazed up at her golden mother who nudged her back towards the candidates.

He watched the hatchlings with wide eyes. They were... beautiful. Terrifying. Beautiful.

One of the green hatchlings broke away from the girls, clearly not satisfied and began a search of the males. She wove around them, briefly distracted by chasing her own tail until she froze and her eyes landed on a young boy.

She bounded over in two excited leaps and stopped in front of him, gazing up at him with adoring blue eyes. L'le! L'le! I found you! Your Osoth is hungry. Do you have food?

Darvish stood on the sands, relishing the warmth. It was almost like the walls of the palace, heated by the volcano it was built on. His eyes were locked on the eggs before him.

The dragonets were making their way towards the candidates, each scanning the faces before them, curious and interested but so far they hadn't approached anyone.

Another egg broke open and there was a gasp from everyone. A silver dragon! No one had ever seen a dragon of that color before but the Queen didn't seem worried about it. In fact she pushed the little one towards the candidates.

Darvish watched the hatchlings starting to move towards them, and repressed an urge to meet them half way. They just... looked so awkward, fresh out of the eggs.

The first Impression had been made! And to one of the strangers. No one had been expecting that. Still, there was no denying the Impression had been made and the first new pair was formed.

The newly hatched brown dragon was finally making his way towards the candidates, clearly his mind was made up.

Daenerys strode into the chamber, as regal in her hatching garments as in the finery she'd worn in Pentos, or her Dothraki riding gear. Her violet eyes sparked as she gazed at the rocking eggs, full of longing.

Three dragonets on the sands, the green and the blue looking as if they were closing in on their choices and the strange silver was holding back, watching the candidates but not getting close just yet.

Another green came next, a beautiful leaf green who crooned to her mother before stumbling towards the candidates.

Dany's hands reached out towards them, imploring. She'd dreamed of dragons all her life, but never this many. Never. She just wanted to touch one of them.

Z'lan quickly moved up and pulled the girl's hands back. "Just wait, they're coming."

Peter scrambled down to the sands, still pulling his clothing on as he went. Hair disheveled, boots on but unlaced, he took his spot in the line of males and panted for air. That was a freaking rush! Adrenaline coursed through his veins as he watched the eggs begin to hatch with wide eyes. Slowly, the former empath pushed his hair out of his face. If he didn't impress, well, that would be embarrassing but he'd still make the best of it.

While the green dragonets were sniffing curiously around the female candidates the blue had made his way towards the males. He was looking from face to face, clearly trying to find the one that called to him.

Another egg broke open on the sands, a brown climbing out and looking around with his eyes spinning nervously.

Peter, ever the animal lover, felt an urge to bend down and touch one but he stopped himself. He was going to stand still until something happened that was supposed to happen. His heart hammered in his chest as he watched the creatures sniff around. Pick me, Peter thought to himself. I'll take good care of you! I only had one fish die as a kid!

The blue made his way through the candidates and then back again. He was clearly thinking hard about his choice and then it was made. He curled around his choice and crooned.

P'ter, your Kalmorth wants to eat. I am hungry. I smell food, can we go to it? If you're not busy.
