I'm asking for suggestions for things that are 'one in ten.' The two that immediately come to mind are, of course, the theoretical statistic for LGBTQ people and Eagle Scouts, but surely there must be others ( Read more... )

Actually I've seen caches use things like "$5 gold coin to first to find." There's also geocoins, although this cache might be too small for most of them. It's something to consider, though, or I could at least mention this stat in the description.

I think if one-in-ten don't carry cash, it might be better to have something representing credit cards instead. Maybe a $5 gift card to somewhere in the area for first to find? I think I've seen fake/toy credit cards at dollar stores, too.

Here are a few others I found. According to the World Wildlife Organization, one in ten known species on earth are in the Amazon region. As of 2013, 10% of Wisconsin's energy comes from renewable resources. Based on Sturgeon's Revelation (usually cited as Sturgeon's Law), 10% of everything is not crap. ;>

I haven't put the cache out yet (wanted to collect up containers first,) so yes, that's a good one! The containers are a bit small, but I'm sure I could find something appropriate.
