Heroes episode 17 was amazing. Stellar. No understatement there. It floored me. For me, it was like reaching new heights in the story and characterization, plus seeing what potentials the show could reach (and that's just mere potential).

If you're not watching Heroes yet, and you're a graphic novel/comic book fan or like a very well-written story ( Read more... )

Well, they do have Jeph Loeb (who wrote Batman: Long Halloween and Batman: Dark Victory) helping them out! I'd probably try to watch it, but it comes on at the same time 24 does here, and I really enjoy the "ticking clock" hecticness of it :\

And also I'm a little turned off that they're all fairly attractive people. The suspension of belief I have for it in comic books doesn't cross over to TV, I guess!

I have mixed feelings about this show. It's addicting and it's a lot of fun, but I feel like they draw things out too much and the dramatic flourishes are kind of ridiculous already at times. I'm still at Episode 12 though. Please tell me the dialogue gets better. Whenever Peter opens his mouth I want to kick a puppy. Save the cheerleader, save the world. My destinyyyyy!

That's exactly how I feel about Heroes. I have the next several episodes after 12, but I haven't felt like watching them because... because... I don't know, I just get so "mleh" about it. I can burn the next several episodes on a DVD for you if you don't have them already. Along with the next few episodes of maybe Lost and VM?

Anyway, at least it has Isaac. ♥

that's EXACTLY how i FELT about it. until i saw episode 17. the first few episodes in particular made me feel a bit iffy. i saw more cons to the series than pros. but the writing got much better, and i started embracing the archetypal nature of the characters (and some of peter's cheesy lines), seeing it more like a comic book translated to television and a whole lot more susceptible to a very structuralist reading -- i feel like you can sort of predict what happens, but you really can't because the story's just crazy and the exposition is well done.

episode 17 was a really good and important episode, in my opinion. when you decide to give the rest of the episodes a chance, let me know what you think!

I agree. :D I'm a comic fan and am quite addicted to Heroes (it's just frustrating to wait a whole week for 40 minutes of story. argh!).

17 just made the crazy even more insane. I just hope they don't get too tangled in a web of events that, when they can't explain the plot anymore, they resort to cheesy, unresolved endings. but over-all, i'm just in awe with the execution of the whole series in general. i think the way the "person" meets the "hero" is simply galeng (although it sometimes gets out of hand, hahahahaha. :P).
