I know that some of you are new here so may not know our whole 'Cece situation', but Kevin Smith (Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma, Chasing Amy, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks 2, Zack and Miri Make a Porno), may have personally helped us out tonight. Cece was our main actress for The Amateur Monster Movie. Out of the 45 days of shooting we had, she was only scheduled for about 15 of them, if that. A lot of the time, she wouldn't let us know until last minute that she couldn't make a shoot after people from Green Bay and Chicago were already there for their scenes. We all got a long really well. There was even a night where her and I had a pretty deep conversation and I felt like we understood each other. But out of nowhere, she just stopped coming. Was it something we did? Was it her agent? Did her mom not want her a part of it? Was she embarrassed? Did she think that the project would become nothing?
Well, after the crew wrote letters to her and consulting lawyers, she still hasn't had any contact with us since September 27th, which was the last day she was on set. Really, we only need her for one more day and then it's done. Well, Eric, who's on the crew, went to 'An Evening with Kevin Smith' tonight out in Milwaukee and talked with him afterward about our situation. He related to us because he had similar problems with Bruce Willis for their new movie Cop Out.
So what Kevin Smith did was call her personally and told her to stop being a bitch and just finish the movie. I guess some radio stations got a recording of it so we're going to try and get a copy of that. Hopefully some words by an auteur on independent cinema will convince her to just come up for one more day, that's it. Anyway, thought that was pretty cool.
