this is perfect, my very first thought when I saw they were all in Gran Canaria together was but Adam's not and that is wrong, very wrong, and then I immediately wanted a story about that and this is the perfect story. I just, I love every part of it. The friendship between all of them, Joe, I really enjoy your Joe, and then David's feelings about being home - this whole section -

In England, David hates the media responsibilities, hates the cameras and the instructions that don't make sense to him. He hates the constant, unshakeable feeling that people are laughing at him, the small, scrawny Spanish kid who doesn't like English food and doesn't have the confidence to speak English around them.

Oh heyyyyy so I caved and treated myself to a read of this even though I promised myself I'd wait until I'd finished all my marking. OOPS SORRY NOT SORRY.

Ahhhhh Ella I am endlessly amused and not at all guilty about all the City fic you keep writing. Especially when it's as lovely as this. Like, it is 100% hilarious, Joe scoffing olives and James being despairing of their drunkenness and chewing the taxi driver's ear off about footy and Gaz absolutely being a goody two-shoes and their general lads-on-tour touristy nonsense. Holidays with Joe Hart would simultaneously be the best and worst idea in the world, and this is exactly how it would go downBut but but it's also so beautifully introspective and I love the edge of sadness to it all (seeing as the absence of Adam Johnson is something that plagues MY ENTIRE LIFE). Ugh Silva Katherine is so right, that bit about the media is pinpoint perfect, you've just completely captured how even if he's not debilitatingly homesick on a daily basis, Gran Canaria is just in his bones, is never

Thank you for basically writing this fic for me though because I had so much fun with it. The realisation that David is close enough to these three that they would be his pick to introduce to his home is almost too much to get my head around, but it has made me so much more interested in writing them, because that dynamic is lovely and I feel a lot fonder of David now that I know what he looks for in a man is actually idiocy, northern accents and a tendency to show affection through buying pints. David that's what I look for too! We should be bff.

Also Rach so I wrote this really quickly and without giving myself any time to really consider what I was writing (my integrity knows no bounds) and so it wasn't until the next day that I sort of realised that I had stolen your 4&20 canon without saying anything about it, and now I'm a little bit embarrassed but oh man I hope you don't mind <3 that
