“Okay everyone! Nice work today! Practice is over, see you guys tonight.” Kahlan watched as her squad moved off the field. She turned and walked towards the sideline to pick up her things. She froze seeing a tall figure leaning up against the nearby bleachers.
She stood still in the same spot as the figure moved towards her. Kahlan recognized the figure as the new girl Cara. Cara bent down, picking up Kahlan’s duffle bag as she walked towards her.
“Hello Kahlan. I’m Cara.” She gave Kahlan a quick appraisal as she scanned her with her eyes. Kahlan tugged at the bottom of her skirt, feeling exposed by her short cheerleading uniform.
“Hi.” Kahlan flushed as Cara guided her towards the parking lot. They walked in silence before Kahlan asked, “How are you liking the classes here?”
Cara shrugged. “I wouldn’t know. I haven’t gone to many of them.”
Kahlan gasped. “What? How could you not go to any classes?”
Cara let out a light laugh. “I didn’t say I don’t go to all of them. Just the ones I don’t like.”
Kahlan scoffed. “And what classes do you like? Lunch?”
Cara replied, “That is one. I also like Chemistry.”
Kahlan hesitated as they stopped at her white convertible. “We have Chemistry together.”
Cara smirked and placed Kahlan’s bag in the passenger seat. “See you in class.” She turned and walked away.
Kahlan smiled.
