“Should I call? Is it too early to call?” Kahlan was frantically pacing the length of her room.
Richard answered in a soothing voice, “Kahlan calm down. It’s not too early. She’ll be ecstatic if you call.”
Kahlan stopped pacing. “Really? Did she tell you that?”
Richard coughed. “Well…no. But I could tell. She really likes you. She tries to hide it but it’s pretty obvious.”
Kahlan beamed. “Really? Well I guess I can call her…. What if she doesn’t like me?” She fisted her hands through her hair.
A voice echoed from inside Kahlan’s closet. “Just call her already.”
“Dennee?! What the hell are you doing in there?! Get out!” Kahlan threw the door open and dragged her younger sister out, throwing her out of her room.
Richard watched, shoulders shaking with laughter. Kahlan growled, “That’s not funny Richard!”
His face softened. He walked towards her placing his hands softly on her shoulders. “Kahlan. It’s okay. Call her. And besides why wouldn’t she like you? You’re beautiful and sweet. She’d be lucky to have you.”
She smiled and gave him a tight hug. “Thanks Richard.” She grabbed her cell phone and dialed quickly before she lost her nerve.
“Hello?”
Kahlan smiled.
