Everything is perfect after that night. Well not exactly, but to Rachel, it seems like it. Quinn is her girlfriend, how can life not be perfect?
Day 3
“Okay breathe.” Rachel takes a deep breath and steps out of her car. She starts walking towards the school, and almost screams when an arm drops onto her shoulder from out of nowhere.
“Heya Berry. You excited?” Santana and Brittany flank her as they enter the school.
“Excited for what? It’s just a normal school day.” Rachel’s voice shakes slightly.
“Really? Aren’t you excited to see Quinn? I’m always excited to see Santana. Quinn’s so excited to see you again. Well not see but-oh! There she is! I’ll go grab her.” Brittany skips off.
Santana smiles. “Yeah. She was yapping our ears off about you during Saturday practice.”
Rachel’s neck cracks as her head whips towards Santana. “Really? What’d she say?”
“Geez. Eager much? She thought it was the best first date ever. By the way picnic in the park? Nice. From the way she was squealing about it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you got lucky very soon.” Santana raises her right eyebrow in a sleazy way.
“Santana Lopez that is disgusting. I’m not dating Quinn just so I can ‘get lucky.’ You need to be more respectful of women. I don’t know how Brittany can stand your attitude.” Rachel rants as Santana rolls her eyes.
“Okay Berry. I apologize profusely for my objectification of women. Are you happy now?”
“I’m not.” Both Rachel and Santana jump as Brittany and Quinn appeared beside them. “You’re objecting to women now?” She pouts. “Does this mean you don’t want me anymore?”
Santana draws her close, in a hug. “Of course I still want you. Berry was just being dumb.”
Brittany beams. “Good. Let’s go make out before homeroom.” Waving, she drags Santana away.
Rachel turns to face Quinn and sighs happily. “Hi.”
She flushes when Quinn presses a light kiss to her lips and whispers, “Hey.”
“Oh my god. Did that just happen?” Their heads swivel towards the voice. “I thought Karofsky was shitting me when he said he saw you two making out at the park.” Puck’s eyes roll towards the back of his head. He smirks at them. “Nice.” He raises his hand towards Quinn for a high-five. He frowns when Quinn doesn’t respond. “Fine. Be that way.”
Rachel rolls her eyes. “She can’t see your hand idiot.” She turns toward Quinn. “How come no one can tell you’re blind? And we weren’t making out in the park. We actually have some sort of modesty, unlike some people.” She says this with a pointed look at Puck. “Whatever. We should get to class.” She grabs Quinn’s arm and loops it through her elbow.
Quinn smiles and raises her hand in Puck’s direction.
He smacks his hand against hers and laughs when Rachel growls at him.
---------------------
Throughout the rest of the day, all the jocks approach Quinn to give her high fives.
Day 15
“So do you want to go out to dinner tonight?” Rachel is sitting at her desk finishing homework as Quinn reads on the bed.
Quinn winces. “I kind of told Jesse I would hang out with him tonight.”
Rachel flops onto the bed beside her. “Oh. Okay. That’s fine. He’s your best friend. I’ll just go be a third wheel with Britt and Santana.”
“No. You’re my girlfriend, and he’s my best friend. I can’t just split all my time between you two. You’re coming tonight. All three of us can hang out. Maybe you guys can become friends.”
Rachel shakes her head frantically. “No no no. I cannot hang out with Jesse St. James. My body is incapable of being near such incompetence for prolonged periods of time.”
“Rachel come on.”
“I’m serious! I’ll break out in hives! I’m getting itchy just thinking about it.”
Quinn drapes her body half on top of Rachel’s, wrapping her arm around Rachel’s neck. “Please baby?”
“Fine.” Rachel sighs as she wraps her arms low around Quinn’s back. “But if he’s an ass, I’m leaving.”
Quinn laughs. “Okay. If he’s an ass, I’ll let you. I’m not sure why you two hate each other so much. You guys are a lot alike. I bet in some alternate world, you guys would date or something.”
Rachel shudders, horrified. “Eww. I would not touch him with a ten foot pole. How can you compare me to him?”
Quinn cocks her head. “Hmm. I wonder how I could possibly think two gorgeous, talented people are alike.”
Rachel’s brow furrows. “You think he’s gorgeous?”
“Not as gorgeous as you.” Quinn leans her head towards Rachel’s as she seeks her lips.
Their lips press together heatedly for a few moments before Rachel breaks away. “Wait a minute, do you think-“
“Not as talented as you.” Quinn throws her leg over Rachel’s hip and lowers her head once more.
---------------------
“I am so much more talented than you! Tell him Quinn!”
“Yeah Quinn! Tell it to my three consecutive Nationals titles! What do you have Berry? Oh! Sectionals? That’s child’s play!”
“Ahh!” Rachel slams her fist into the table. “You just wait. We are going to destroy you at Regionals!”
Jesse tosses his head and runs a hand through his hair. “Ha! That’s about as likely as Lea Michele ever winning a Tony.”
Rachel snarls, “Then our victory is a sure thing!”
Quinn bangs the table loudly. “Will both of you be quiet? We’re in public.”
They both quiet for a moment before they start arguing again. Quinn palms her face.
---------------------
“Do you want me to go with you?” Rachel stands up, ready to escort Quinn to the restroom.
Quinn shakes her head, an amused smile on her face. “No. I can go alone. I’m more worried about leaving the two of you alone.”
Jesse scoffs. “I’m a mature adult Quinn. I’m sure I can handle Rachel for five minutes.”
Rachel glares at him and watches Quinn go.
“Just because she can’t see, it doesn’t mean she’s an invalid you know.”
Her head whips towards Jesse. “Of course I know that! How can you even say that to me?”
“Well you don’t act like it.”
“I do!” He gives her a pointed look. “Just because I want to be near her all the time, it doesn’t mean I think she can’t do things herself okay? I know how strong she is, and I love that about her.”
Jesse nods and gives her a reluctant smile. “Good. No matter how much I hate to admit it, you’re good with her.”
Rachel smiles cockily. “I know.” Her face softens. “I won’t hurt her.”
His face turns serious. “You better not. Despite my intense dislike of you, I wouldn’t want to have to hurt you. Well physically. Musically however…”
Rachel smiles and extends her hand out to him. “I guess we should try to be friends. For Quinn. So truce?”
He shakes it. “Truce. For Quinn.”
They sit in a comfortable silence until Quinn comes back to the table. She looks confused at their silence. “Is everything okay? What happened while I was gone?” She reaches dramatically towards both of them. “Oh my god. Did you guys kill each other? Are you dead?”
Jesse laughs quietly. “Ha ha Quinn. Very funny.”
Quinn laughs. “I know I am. But seriously you two. What’s wrong? This entire night you’ve been at each other’s throats but now you guys don’t have a word to say to each other?”
Rachel grasps Quinn’s hand in her own and smiles. “Well I guess Jesse and I have gained a sort of peace with one another.”
Quinn beams. “Good. Because if I had to listen to another monologue about musical theater, I might’ve had to kill myself.
Day 37
“You’re so lucky Rachel!”
Rachel lets out a wistful sigh. “Yeah I am.” She pulls her gaze away from Quinn, who’s sitting across the room laughing with Puck, Finn, Santana, and Brittany. “Wait why do you think I’m lucky?”
Kurt points at a glitzy sign posted near the door. “Prom! You’re so lucky you have a hot girlfriend to go with you! What I would give for Finn to come to his senses and ask me.”
Mercedes agrees, “And I have it on good authority that Quinn’s a shoo-in for Prom Queen.”
Rachel blushes. “Well Quinn and I haven’t really talked much about Prom.”
“What? But Prom is in exactly seven days! How will you have enough time to get a dress? We’ve had our outfits ready for months!” Kurt and Mercedes look scandalized.
Rachel stutters, “I don’t even know if Quinn wants to go.”
Mercedes and Kurt shake their heads. “Girls like Quinn have been waiting for Prom their entire lives. She is going.”
---------------------
“I’m not going. I’m so sorry! But grandparents are flying into Columbus that weekend and it’s the first chance I’ll get to see them in a super long time.”
Rachel can see the guilt clear in Quinn’s eyes. She’s still kind of sad though. “Oh. That’s alright. You can’t help your commitments.”
Quinn grasps Rachel’s hands tightly. “You should still go. The rest of Glee will be there. It’ll be fun!”
“Yeah. I guess so.”
Quinn cups Rachel’s face in her palm. “It’ll be great. If you don’t have fun, I’ll beat Santana up.” Rachel’s lips quirk up in a smile under Quinn’s fingers. “Good. I promise we’ll go to the next dance okay? Faberry’s gonna bring it. The school won’t know what hit ‘em.”
Rachel lets out a happy laugh. “Faberry?
“Duh. That’s what everyone’s calling us. We’re the school’s best power couple.”
“You sound entirely too proud of that Quinn Fabray.”
“Hah. Like you don’t love it.”
Rachel looks up adoringly at Quinn’s gorgeous face. “I do.”
Day 44
Ding Dong. As the doorbell rings, Rachel prepares herself to greet the Glee Club. She knows she should be excited for Prom, but she can’t help but wish Quinn was going with her. She hears her father shouting for her and hurries down the stairs. “I’m coming!” She nearly trips down the stairs, and finds herself caught in warm strong arms. She looks up shocked. “Quinn?!”
“Surprise.”
