Aww, I'm sorry you're so sore. Hot baths and drinking lots of water will help. Good for you for taking the class, though. Two hours of Sun Salute is pretty hard-core for a beginner, though. I wouldn't teach more than 40 minutes of Surya Namaskar to a class that had beginner students in it. But that's just me. *gentle hugs*
The Crow = Bakasana = this one? (They are calling it "Crane Pose", but I learned that as "Crow Pose". Also, that is way more rounded-backed than how I teach that pose... anyway! ) Good for you! That's one of my favorite arm balances. :)
you're a much gentler teacher it seems ;) it was a really small class, just the best!buddy, me and one advanced student, but the teacher showed no mercy *g* I have my next class on Wednesday. If I can move until then... but I definitely will drink lots of water (thanks for the tip) and is a hot shower enough? because I'm absolutely a no bath only shower person...
YES! that's the one, I meant! and our backs also weren't as rounded as on the photo. (also my feet were not as high above the ground *g*)
A hot shower will help some. Also, if you have some gel or cream for sore muscles. :) Also taking a long walk can help shake out some of the soreness- gentle steady movement. If you're just a little sore on Wednesday, another class will help relieve some of the soreness. But if you are still very sore on Wednesday, I'd say wait until you aren't hurting as much before you go back.
You did well! Most people don't get their feet off the ground at all the first time they try that pose. Also, if you back is flatter, that means you're using your stomach muscles as well as your arms- THAT is the right way to do it. Yay!
my mom gave me a gel for sore muscles when I showed up today to tutor the lil'sis in maths. Yay for moms! *g* I hope it won't be as bad as now on Wednesday. Normally I'm really quick with the recovery, just right now I feel so sore that I can't imagine that it will get better any time soon, but that's a very subjective impression ;)
Thank you! *beams* the teacher also said so. that's probably why she went all overachiever with us. lol. there was one which was called "Der Pfau" in German (peacock???) which was just impossible. heeee.
It'll get better, promise! 2 hours to start with is pretty intense, but each time you do it, it'll help loosen those muscles some more, so it wont hurt as badn ext time.
Promise :-) You might want to go a bit easier on Wednesday though. Don't push yourself to go as deep into the poses this time, just to give your body a chance to get use to the feeling of them instead.
well, it's only 90 minutes, so that's at least shorter, and there will be more people so I guess it won't be as intense as the last class where we were only three pupils (two beginners and one advanced) with the teacher. I'm definitely remembering your advice! heee.
Hee!! I'm going back to my weightlifting class tonight after six months, I'lll be crawling all over the place tomorrow. Sends virtual pain killers and hot baths your way.
