Question for you: I caught a praying (preying?) mantis and put it in a great big tank with plenty of sticks to climb up, but I let it go after 24 hours because it wouldn't eat the lovely cricket I put in the cage with it. Don't know if it was male or female, but probably male because it was so skinny. So, why wouldn't it eat and how does one keep a mantis happy? tia!

ps Oh! But it flew off when I put it outside, so does that mean it was a girly?

It was likely male, considering you preceved it as skinny, and by skinny I assume your refering to it's abdomen. The way to trully tell is by counting the sements on thier abdomen. 5-6 female 7-8 male
