I've had a profound week.

My therapist in Pittsburgh used to compare me to a plant that doesn't transplant well. Think alyssum or sweet woodruff... Huge, silly smile on my face right now. I love how the world is connected in this way.

You know what, those dreams you had as a child?...those are the ones we should all still be reaching for because those are our honest dreams. Those are the dreams we had before we learned to be sensible and consider others and compromise. Those are the dreams that will make us truly happy. And if your dreams aren't going to do that, why bother dreaming? The compromise will come no matter what, so you better aim high with the dream part.

Hiya... it's your old HS pal Kristi. How've you been? I'm back on LJ and making contact with old friends... didn't know how else to get in touch. I'm doing great - been doing DBT group and Art therapy for about half a year... thought I'd mention it cause I saw your post and the comment: Imagine 'should' is no longer in your vocabulary... Things have and are radically changing in the last year due to the studies I've taken on with my DBT group (skills training based on Zen Buddhism, developed by Marsha Linehan). It's utterly amazing what I'm learning and how things are going with me now (especially in comparison to a year ago...) Anyway, I accepted a position at the EPA and am getting prepared to start - really excited (my last job was with a start-up pharma company with a lot of hours and a lot of unrealistic expectations, so I'm thrilled to have this new opportunity). I'm filling out a million pieces of paperwork for the background clearance thing to be able to work in the building I'll be in... and I'm coming across a lot of ( ... )
