You do a great job of connecting this essay to the larger and much more complicated issues of humanity, God, and our dominon over nature. It could be a very long, very heated debate. Lets just say that their are many sides and views on the subject.

I also liked how you make us decide if we will still call Mengele a monster. I think it enough to say he was a monster and a scientist at the same time. The two are not mutually exclusive or inclusive. Suzuki did seem to understate the horrors of Auschwitz.

And mabye that was part of his point. Mabye it is the cold disconnected nature of science that creates monsters. It is only by educating ourselves on the pitfalls and being careful in the application of science can we avoid creating monsters from science.
