It's really weird listening to music made by people I know. I can recognize the person's speaking voice in his/her singing voice and something about that makes it awkward. I sometimes wonder what I would think of the music if I had more distance

It is worse listening to yourself. I always succumb to the temptation of listening to myself on the Livewire website after I have done my radio show. It is like a terrible kind of masturbation, and I always feel embarassed.

I think this is why I like to try and process my vocals to the point that they are sort of alien to me. My voice is the hardest thing for me to gain perspective on in my music and my main source of insecurity.

This message made me very happy.
I want to come visit you all so badly. I keep seeing Deanna and Jen and Nicole and Sally writing about how they're going to get together in LA this summer and I have to admit, I'm kind of jealous. If I had the money I would fly my ass right over with them and give everybody whipped cream facial hair. And then I'd fly to England and make you all drink root beer floats.
I somehow didn't realize quite what a wonderful group of people I'd meet when I went to England. I was falling asleep today at work (I pin and label bugs) and I thought of Waveney and you guys and all the fun we had. It definitely helped me stay awake, and put a mysterious if slightly goofy smile upon my face.

Last semester was brilliant, having you guys around was so much fun. I still have the pictures up on my wall of us all, they were great times!!
